Use of cookies

We use cookies to collect and store data. Cookies are small data files that your browser stores on your device at our request. They do not cause harm, contain viruses or allow us to spy on you. We use two types of cookies: temporary cookies are automatically deleted when you close your browser (session cookies), while persistent cookies allow your browser to be recognised when you return to the website. Cookies help us understand how you use the website for the purposes and to the extent described above, and help optimise your browsing experience. We collect this data only in anonymised form. You can configure your browser to prevent our cookies from being stored on your device or to delete cookies already stored. The data protection link below provides a list of the cookies used on our website and a brief explanation of their purposes.

We use Hotjar software (http://www.hotjar.com, 3 Lyons Range, 20 Bisazza Street, Sliema SLM 1640, Malta, Europe) to improve the user experience on our website. Hotjar allows us to measure and analyse user behaviour, such as mouse movements, clicks and scrolling. For this purpose, Hotjar places cookies on users’ devices and may store anonymised information such as browser details, operating system and time spent on the page. You can prevent this processing by disabling cookies in your browser settings and deleting cookies already stored. Further information about Hotjar’s data processing is available here.

Google Ads Remarketing

We use Google Ads to advertise this website in Google search results as well as on third-party websites. For this purpose, when you visit our website, Google sets a so-called remarketing cookie that automatically enables interest-based advertising using a pseudonymous cookie ID and based on the pages you have visited. This serves to protect our legitimate interests in the optimal marketing of our website, which prevail within the scope of a balancing of interests in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR. Once the purpose ceases to apply and we stop using Google Ads Remarketing, the data collected in this context will be deleted.

Any further data processing will only occur if you have given Google your consent to link your web and app browsing history with your Google account and to use information from your Google account to personalise the ads you see on the web. If you are logged into Google while visiting our website and have given such consent, Google will use your data together with Google Analytics data to create and define target audience lists for cross-device remarketing. For this purpose, your personal data will be temporarily linked by Google with Google Analytics data to form audiences.

Google Ads is a service provided by Google Ireland Limited, a company incorporated and operated under Irish law with its registered office at Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (www.google.de).
If information is transferred to and stored on Google servers in the USA, the U.S.-based company Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield.
You can view a current certificate here. Based on this agreement between the USA and the European Commission, the latter has determined an adequate level of data protection for companies certified under the Privacy Shield.
You can disable the remarketing cookie using this link. Additionally, you can learn more about the setting of cookies and manage your preferences via the Digital Advertising Alliance.

Use of Google Analytics for web analysis

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. (www.google.de). Google Analytics uses cookies — text files stored on your computer — to analyse how you use the website. The information generated by the cookie is generally transmitted to a Google server in the United States and stored there. Where IP anonymisation is enabled, Google first truncates your IP address within EU member states or other states party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address sent to a Google server in the United States and truncated there. IP anonymisation is active on this website. On behalf of the website operator, Google uses this information to evaluate your use of the website, compile reports on website activity and provide further services related to website and internet use. The IP address transmitted by your browser through Google Analytics is not combined with other Google data. You can prevent cookies from being stored by changing your browser settings, although this may mean that some website functions are not fully available. You can also prevent Google from collecting and processing the data generated by the cookie about your use of the website, including your IP address, by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en.

Data protection declaration for the use of Google Maps

This website uses Google Maps to display maps. When you use Google Maps, Google also processes information about visitors’ use of the map functions. Further information is available in Google’s privacy policy. You can also change your settings in Google’s privacy centre to manage and protect your data.

Use of Facebook Plugins

Our website also uses social plugins (“plugins”) provided by the social network Facebook, operated by Facebook, Inc., 1601 S. California Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (“Facebook”). The plugins are identifiable by a Facebook logo or the notice “Facebook Social Plugin.” For a full list of all Facebook plugins please see http://developers.facebook.com/plugins

When you visit a page of our website that contains such a plugin, your browser establishes a direct connection to Facebook servers. Facebook directly transfers the plugin content to your browser which embeds the latter into the website, enabling Facebook to receive information about your access to the respective page of our website, even if you do not have a Facebook account or if you are not logged into Facebook at this point in time. This information (incl. your IP address) is transmitted by your browser directly to a Facebook server in the US and stored by it.

If you are logged into Facebook, your visit can be directly assigned to your Facebook account. If you interact with the plugins, for example by clicking the “Like” button or entering a comment, the corresponding information is transmitted from your browser directly to Facebook and stored by it. In addition, the information is published on your Facebook profile and is made available to your Facebook friends.

For the information on the purpose and scope of data collection and further processing by Facebook, as well as your rights in this respect and settings options for protecting your privacy, please read Facebook's privacy policy: http://www.facebook.com/policy.php

If you do not want Facebook to connect the data concerning your visit to our website with your data already stored by Facebook, please log off Facebook before entering our website. You can also fully block Facebook plugins by using add-ons for your browser, for example the "Facebook Blocker"  (http://webgraph.com/resources/facebookblocker/) or the script blocker “NoScript” (http://noscript.net/).

Use of Instagram Social Plugins

Our website uses social plugins from Instagram, operated by Instagram LLC., 1601 Willow Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA. The plugins are identified by an Instagram logo, such as the Instagram camera icon. An overview of the plugins and their appearance is available at http://blog.instagram.com/post/36222022872/introducing-instagram-badges.
